Features to know about

Upgrade to Confident, Smooth Braking: 10" Hub-and-Rotor Disc Design

If you’re ready to move on from worn or lagging drum brakes, this 10" DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit (#DE46YR) delivers smoother, more consistent braking. The one-piece hub-and-rotor design keeps everything balanced and even, minimizing vibration or rotor runout. Ceramic pads and stainless steel pistons give quick, responsive braking with less fade and shorter stopping distances.

Built for Salt, Slush, and Spray: Maxx Coat and Stainless Steel Protection

Rust can ruin a good brake setup fast. This kit pairs stainless steel calipers with Maxx-coated hub-rotors and brackets that carry a 1,000-hour salt-spray rating—over three times the protection of Dacromet coatings. Drainage holes in the hat section let water escape quickly so moisture won’t sit inside the rotor. It’s tough enough for occasional saltwater use or long seasons on salted roads.

Runs Cooler and Lasts Longer: Vented Rotor Construction

DeeMaxx designed these vented rotors to pull heat away fast during repeated stops or long downhill grades. The extra airflow reduces brake fade and pad wear while keeping braking smooth and predictable. This same engineering helped DeeMaxx brakes meet the demanding SAE J2681 automotive brake test for friction performance.

DIY-Friendly from Start to Finish: Preassembled with Bearings and Hardware

Everything you need to upgrade one 3,500 lb axle is in the box—two hub-rotor assemblies with inner (L68149) and outer (L44649) bearings, races, grease seals, zinc-coated caps, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. Laser-etched bleeding instructions on each caliper simplify maintenance later on. With bolt-on installation and minimal setup, it’s an easy weekend upgrade you can do yourself.

Engineered for Dependable Service: Strong Build with 7-Year Warranty

Automotive-grade materials, a 4-bolt brake flange configuration, 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, and 1/2" wheel bolts make this kit durable enough for daily towing duty. Backed by a 7-year warranty, it’s built to keep your trailer stopping straight and steady season after season.

Product was as expected, good quality braking system, installed easily in about 1-2 hours per wheel. Shipping and ordering was quick and easy. Time will tell more after installing on my fresh water boat trailer.
Unfortunately, it did not clear my 15” wheels properly, as indicated in the product description. I found by adding a 1/4” wheel spacer, that was just enough to get the clearance needed to prevent the calipers from rubbing on my 15” rims. (I have also seen others say that they used a grinder to take about 1/4” off the caliper body to get them to clear). This is the only reason for 4/5 stars.

Emma was great at helping me purchase these parts. They arrived two days earlier than expected as well. Your videos are also very well done and full of great information. I have some painting and rust removal to do before reassembly but will send pix when complete. Thx again

by:

Madison was a great help and knew exactly what I needed for my application. Parts came quick and were easy to install.

by:

Have not installed yet but the kit appears well made. Hoping the pads hold up well.

by:

Braking is 1000x better than the OEM drum brakes. I've had to turn the brake controller way down because I was locking up the tires on a 14,000 lb RV. Will plan on putting on other trailers that I plan on keeping for a long time.

Great Job!!!!

by:

They definitely made a huge difference for stopping no question about it

by:

Parts look good.  One problem is the caliper plate sticks out 3/16 inches farther which means you have to change the plate .  Drilling out the old plate is a nightmare.

by:

Good product. Great service. Some damage occurred during shipping, but replacement parts were shipped free of charge.

by:

Fast Delivery, great tracking and all parts fixed perfectly.

by:

Still have not road tested them, but the ease of installation was great. All 4 wheels swapped out in one day.

by:

Just got them, but haven't installed yet. They look of very high quality. So far happy with the purchase I will do another review once installed and working.

by:

Has been reliable for 1 year

by:

Well Designed and build. I took some time to remove old set - it was rusted in place reel good. But install of the new set was very easy.
The improvement in braking is very significant i am controlling brakes with electric/hydraulic actuator and the system works just like brakes on the car - very precise and sensitive.

by:

I have not had much time on the road with these but from day 1 it was obvious I made the right choice. The items came in packaging that I would rate at 4 stars as there were some concerns but nothing drastic. The install was straight forward and everything went together as intended. I like the better braking control with the new system that works much better than the old set. My trailer is 2019 and the rotors were badly rotted, the calipers worked but were hanging up but these are a total game changer. Brakes work great!

by:

Awesome people to work with. Finding the right trailer parts isn't easy. Amy J has helped me out quite a few times. This is where I will get all of my parts.

by:

Easy to install, Fit perfect, and Wow, stops you so much better than drum brakes!

by:

Only thing that I could suggest is a better product description of exactly what’s in the box. I thought the bearings would be greased. (Nope) and the rotor and hub were 2 parts. (1 part). Other than that it was a great experience:-)

by:

Fit perfectly on my EZ Loader Tandem Axle Trailer from 2008

by:

The rotors are of average quality. Beware!!! The wheel studs are too short if you have aluminum alloy wheels. I had to change all 36. Installation is still in progress.

by:

I bet they are nice, if shipped and re-sold by a competent company. Unfortunately, we're dealing with Etrailer here. Well... on this one, the last order I ever make with them. Crappy packaging means the rotors were free to make minced meat out of everything else inside the boxes. Due to life, it was a year before I was able to install them on the trailer. On top of it all, they decided it would be a great idea reward the hard-earned money I spent with them by spamming me, sending me unwanted unsolicited email until I threatened them with a lawsuit (CAN SPAM act).
I ended up visiting the local Tool store popular in the Northern and getting the parts to repair what Etrailer's incompetence in packing wrought.

Very fast service and quality product

by:

Braking effect is much more pronounced that my previous disc brakes. Parts delivered quickly. Installed to replace Knott calipers which had been locking up frequently- these calipers and rotors show no signs of corrosion or loss of brake effect after a couple of uses in saltwater. I would highly recommend purchasing mounting hardware as these do not come with any- also note if you have tandem axels you need to have “T” line splitters as the brake line inlet is standard 3/16 (or 1/8 NPT if you remove the included 90° fitting)- the Y splitter that my previous calipers used through the lower bleed fitting were too big. Very satisfied so far; just need to see how they hold up over time.

  • Will Kodiak Disc Brakes Work For Venture VATB-8025
Hi Jared; you can use Kodiak disc brakes on your Venture VATB-8025 but you will need to identify the axle first. Based on the typical GVWR for that model, you probably have 3,500 lb axles. You can either use the axle tag to identify them, or pull off a hub and check for bearing part numbers/measure the spindle. Assuming it is a standard #84 spindle on a 3,500 lb axle, the Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD67FR will fit. These have a Dacromet coating with a 300-400 hour salt spray rating. You may...

  • Replacing Knott Brand Brake Calipers And Rotors On A Coyote Boat Trailer With 3,500 lb Axles
We do have some options for replacing the Knott calipers and rotors on your Coyote Boat Trailer. We really do not have any info or specs on the Knott brand brakes, but since it is all for a 3,500 lb axle the sizing should be standard. Standard meaning the axle uses the standard 4-bolt brake flange (holes 2-7/8" apart on center), and the hub uses the # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) inner bearing, and the # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) outer bearing. Since there is no kind of cross-referencing...

  • Recommended Parts for Adding Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc Brakes on a Tandem Axle Pontoon Trailer
Thanks for reaching out, Mike! Your 2-3/4" hole spacing sounds like it matches with a standard 3,500 lb axle brake spacing (2-13/16") so we'll get you setup with an Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) brake system using those parts. I really like the DeeMaxx kits because they have a much better coating on them than others on the market. For your application we have the kit # DE66YR with the Maxx coating, and we have the kit # DE46YR which has the Maxx coating on the rotors and brackets along...

  • Is There an Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brake Setup For 3,500 lb Boat Trailer Axle
Hi Tyler, By "complete electronic disc brake kit" it sounds like you are wanting disc brakes and an electric-over-hydraulic actuator set up. While we do have the parts needed, there isn't a complete kit, but you can get the brakes and then a kit with the brake lines and EOH actuator together. For a 3,500 lb single-axle boat trailer here is what you'll need: - DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor # DE46YR - Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit for Disc Brakes # CAR-HBA16-2 The...

  • Upgrading A60 Drum Surge Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes
Thaks for reaching out again, Shane! You will need to convert your actuator to a disc actuator so it has enough pressure to apply the disc brakes (like you said), so to accomplish this you just need the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly # DX44FR. As for the disc brake assemblies, I really like the DeeMaxx brand because their Maxx coat finish is rated for over 1,000 hours of salt spray, which is well over what any of the competitors have listed. The Kit # DE66YR is the standard 3.5K...

Hey Rich, since you have the 3,500 lb axle the disc brake kit you'd need for a salt water application is the DeeMaxx part # DE46YR which is a Maxx Coated/Stainless Steel hub/rotor kit that would work great for you. Did your old setup end up getting really rusty?

  • Recommended Replacement 10" Disc Brake Kit for a Coyote Trailer for Saltwater Application
Thanks for reaching out, Sam! The Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD59FR with the Dacromet/KodaGuard are definitely a solid choice, but the hub-rotors and brackets only have a 300- to 400-hour salt spray rating and the calipers have a 500- to 600-hour salt spray rating. At the very least I recommend using the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE66YR because everything has the Maxx Coating that has over 1,000 hours salt spray rating. If you want the best of the best then the part # DE46YR is the same kit...

  • Replacement Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for 3,500 lb Axle with #84 Spindles
Thank you for all of the photos and information! From what I can see it looks like you have a #84 spindle but that inner bearing blew out so you should be able to remove that inner sleeve that looks like it's still on the spindle (next to where the grease seal rides). Try using a hammer and flat head screwdriver to gently tap on that ring to see if it slides off the spindle without damaging anything. If you can get it off and your spindles look clean and don't have any damaged then it's...

  • Should You Upgrade to Disc Brakes on Boat Trailer & How to Find Right Ones
Yes, you should 100 percent upgrade to disc brakes on your boat trailer; disc brakes give you better stopping power than drum brakes, require less maintenance due to having fewer moving parts, and will last longer for boat trailers as they are coated for use in water. Since you are replacing drum brakes you'll need a hub and rotor brake kit, and there are a number of things you'll have to know to get the right one. First, you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at...

  • What is Maxx Coat on DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit and Why is There a Mix of That and Stainless Steel
The DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - Maxx Coat/Stainless - 3,500 lbs # DE46YR uses stainless steel calipers and a Maxx coating on the hub and rotor. This Maxx coating is a special coating made by DeeMaxx and has a 1,000 hour salt-spray rating, which is pretty impressive in and of itself. The reason why there is a mix between the Maxx Coat and Stainless Steel is that a full Stainless kit would cost more, so DeeMaxx has come up with this hybrid kit to help keep the cost down.

  • Will Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit Hold Up In Salt Water
Hey Mike! Yes, the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit # HYD92FR will work well in a salt water marine environment. The Dacromet coated components do a great job holding up in salt water and help prevent corrosion. It uses a traditional grease hub with standard bearings and a grease seal, so it can replace an oil bath setup.
